SC4EU at EFECS 2024: Pioneering the Future of European Semiconductors

Gent, Belgium 5.-6. December 2024

At EFECS 2024, the European Forum for Electronic Components and Systems, which took place in Ghent, Belgium, from December 5–6, the SC4EU team joined innovators and leaders in the sector. The Chips Joint Undertaking, INSIDE, and AENEAS, expertly coordinated this premier event, which united Europe's chip industry to bolster our technical competitiveness and sovereignty.
At our project booth, we showcased SC4EU's groundbreaking approach to creating true demand-driven semiconductor supply chains. The visitors' enthusiastic response reaffirmed the mission's importance and urgency. Our team demonstrated how we're moving beyond traditional forecasting methods to establish a more reliable, data-driven approach to understanding and predicting semiconductor demand.

Collaborative Innovation in Action

The lively engagement with the AIMS 5.0 project team at nearby booths was one of the highlights of EFECS 2024. This collaboration demonstrated how European initiatives are collaborating to transform our industrial environment. While SC4EU optimizes semiconductor supply chains, AIMS 5.0's innovative work in AI-enhanced manufacturing shows how European initiatives are creating a comprehensive framework for industrial excellence. EFECS 2024 also reaffirmed Europe's dedication to leading the semiconductor industry. Our joint strategy to improve Europe's standing in the global semiconductor market is demonstrated by the cooperation of Chips JU, INSIDE, and AENEAS in planning this event.

During EFECS event, we showcased several key achievements, including our True Demand approach, which transforms assumption-based forecasting into knowledge-driven demand prediction, and our Digital Reference Platform, a semantic web-based data model that establishes a universal language for the semiconductor ecosystem. We also shared findings from our private data-sharing program, highlighting how it helps with more intelligent production scheduling. Last but not least, we showcased fruitful partnerships with top European semiconductor suppliers and manufacturers, highlighting the influence of our work on the entire industry.

Our talks and presentations emphasized how data-driven demand forecasting helps minimize market volatility and maximize resource allocation, while enhanced supply chain visibility supports Europe's semiconductor manufacturing capabilities. We also showed how cross-industry collaboration enhances Europe's competitive position in the global market, and how digital reference models standardize communication across the semiconductor value chain, fostering greater efficiency and cohesion.

The Path Forward

The enthusiasm and teamwork at EFECS 2024 mark a sea change in European semiconductor development. With the help of initiatives like SC4EU and the strategic vision of companies like Chips JU, INSIDE, and AENEAS, Europe is establishing itself as a world leader in supply chain excellence and semiconductor technology.
With initiatives like EFECS 2024, we're actively creating a more powerful, resilient, and technologically independent Europe rather than merely displaying our success. Thanks to cooperation, creativity, and a common dedication to quality, the future of European semiconductors is more promising than ever.
